IGIFU-Intergenerational Film Hub
The Project
The project aims to open up lifelong and life-wide learning opportunities by raising the competences of educators embedded in the intergenerational context and digitization of seniors (50+) would allow them to slowly bridge this gap.
The Framework
The IGIFU (Intergenerational Film Hub) project has been developed to address the intergenerational learning relationship. Hence, its main focus is on narrowing the digital gap through enhancing seniors aged 50 years and above with digital literacy training, thereby facilitating their abilities to be tech or digitally savvy.
The project also increases the capacity of educators by offering materials and equipment for inter-generation interaction, meaning full relationships between the generations. By so doing, IGIFU fosters learning throughout life and across ages and levels of education as well as knowledge exchanges among the generational divides.
The Objectives
IGIFU (Intergenerational Film Hub) is all about bridging the gap between the generations and making people able to teach, develop, and learn from each other. The project's main objective, in general, revolves around reducing the disparities in technological literacy by ensuring seniors, 50 years and above, can gain confidence while dealing with technology. It is about inclusion, about giving the elderly, the less educated, and the less technologically inclined a fighting chance in a world that is fast going increasingly tech-savvy.
IGIFU also assists educators in improving the quality of teaching seniors and producing interesting lesson plans by using equipment and strategies to create intergenerational relations. To this extent, the project’s emphasis on continual learning guarantees that people can continue learning regardless of their age.
IGIFU is all about participation, knowledge and cooperation and is a medium to educate people and share stories using film and create a breakthrough tool to encourage more social interaction between the younger and older generation.
