Sensory Path

Sensory Path is a new Erasmus+ project that aims to improve the support provided to people with multiple disabilities, through the use of the Snoezelen approach and creative, art-based methods.

Snoezelen is an interactive method used with people with disabilities, based on sensory stimulation. It uses light, sound, touch, smells, movement and other sensory experiences in a safe and specially adapted environment. This approach helps individuals feel calmer and safer, relax, and communicate and express themselves more effectively.

At the same time, the project connects sensory stimulation with creative artistic activities, showing how art can contribute to wellbeing, social inclusion, and emotional expression.

Project Objectives

The main objectives of Sensory Path are:

  • To train educators and professionals on how to apply the Snoezelen method in practice, in real working environments.

  • To strengthen the exchange of knowledge and good practices among professionals from Greece, Italy and France.

  • To develop two practical toolkits:

    • the Sensory Kit, including guidelines and tools for the Snoezelen approach

    • the Art Kit, including guidelines and practical artistic methods for inclusive activities

  • To create a specially designed Snoezelen Sensory Room at the Institute for the Deaf of Turin, with the aim of supporting people with severe and multiple disabilities.
